1. Проведенная инвентаризация белков надсемейства цитохромов Р450 показала, что условием объективного разделения последовательностей на семейства и подсемейства служит оптимизация параметров парного выравнивания за счет анализа отношения сигнал/шум. Полученные кластеры семейств на 71% воспроизводят общепринятую классификацию генов Р450.

2. Метод иерархического выравнивания позволяет вычислять консенсусных последовательностей как для белковых семейств и подсемейств, так и для всего надсемейства в целом. Консенсусные последовательности можно рассматривать в качестве гипотетических «белков-прародителей» группы гомологичных белков.

3. Консенсусная последовательность надсемейства цитохромов Р450 содержит основные структурно-функциональные элементы этого фермента и согласуется с представлениями о фолдинге глобулярных белков.

4. Разработанный метод кодирования позволил упорядочить белки надсемейства Р450 по степени их удаленности от соответствующих предшественников. Анализ индекса показал, что наиболее близкими к консенсусу надсемейства являются цитохромы Р450 бактериального происхождения, тогда как белки млекопитающих и высших растений удалены от консенсуса.
