На протяжении нескольких столетий, когда формировалось понятие геологам как науки, она носила преимущественно прикладной характер. Несмотря на то, что поиском и добычей полезных ископаемых человечество занимается с доисторических времен, как самостоятельная наука геология сформировалась только в 18 - начале 19 веков. Основной задачей геологии считался поиск и разработка месторождений полезных ископаемых, а также некоторые аспекты инженерной геологии. Для практического использования человеком доступен только поверхностный слой земной коры, и долгое время считалось, что земная кора собственно и представляет предмет изучения геологии. Такой подход находит отражение в неспециальной литературе до сих пор и можно встретить определение геологии как комплекса наук о составе, строении, истории развития земной коры и размещении в ней полезных ископаемых. Однако сегодня мы понимаем геологию как науку о строении всей Земли, ее происхождении и развитии и процессов, протекающих в ее недрах и на поверхности (Короновский и Якушева, 1991).

Для непосредственного наблюдения на сегодняшний день нам доступен только верхний срез поверхности Земли, ограниченный 10-15 км, однако современная наука обладает огромным массивом знаний и о строении самых глубоких геосфер, их минеральном составе, также как и о процессах, протекающих не только в земной коре, но также земной мантии и ядре.

В соответствии с сегодняшней минералогической моделью строения Земли, одной из самых распространенных фаз нижней мантии является ферропериклаз (Мд,Ре)0 (Пущаровский и Оганов, 2006). Структурные и физические свойства этого минерала имеют огромное значение для наук о Земле, однако они изучены относительно мало. Наибольший интерес представляют свойства и строение ферропериклаза при условиях, приближенных к условиям земной мантии (высокие давление и температура), в то время как экспериментальные работы при этих условиях сталкиваются со значительными трудностями. На сегодняшний день практически отсутствуют достоверные данные о кристаллической структуре, спиновом и магнитном состоянии ферропериклаза в нижней мантии. Отсутствуют также данные и о локальной структуре (возможно существование определенной степени ближнего порядка в твердом растворе (М&Ре)0), а также существуют противоречивые экспериментальные данные о возможном распаде этого твердого раствора в условиях высокого давления и температуры.

Основные задачи представленной работы были определены как разработка методики измерения мёссбауэровских спектров при высоких давлении (до 100 ГПа) и высокой температуре и проведение комбинированного экспериментального и теоретического исследования структуры, свойств и электронного состояния железа в ферропериклазе (Mg,Fe)0, близком по составу к предполагаемому мантийному, изучение локальной структуры этого твердого раствора.

Для исследования структуры и свойств ферропериклаза использовалось несколько экспериментальных методик: порошковая рентгеновская дифракция, спектроскопия края рентгеновского поглощения железа и спектроскопия резонансного ядерного поглощения без отдачи (мёссбауэровская спектроскопия) с использованием аппаратов высокого давления с алмазными наковальнями-окнами. Теоретическое моделирование структуры ферропериклаза проводилось как полуэмпирически, так и из первых принципов (ab initio) в приближении обобщенного градиента в рамках теории функционала плотности. Для учета дополнительных обменных взаимодействий d-электронов железа использовался так называемый GGA+U метод Дударева, с использованием программного кода VASP (Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Program).

В результате проведенных исследований разработана практическая методика мёссбауэровской спектроскопии, позволяющая получать спектры от образца, находящегося одновременно при высоком давлении и температуре. Впервые наблюдался спиновый переход железа при высоком давлении и температуре в ферропериклазе методом мёссбауэровской спектроскопии. Получены оригинальные экспериментальные данные о локальной структуре в твердом растворе (Mg,Fe)0, выявлена тенденция к распаду при высоком давлении.

Разработанная автором методика измерения мёссбауэровских спектров при высоком давлении и температуре является уникальным инструментом для экспериментальных наук о Земле, позволяя определять состояние железа в минералах при условиях, по крайней мере, частично покрывающих Р, Т -условия земной коры, верхней и нижней мантии. Полученные данные о свойствах (Mg,Fe)0 имеют большое значение как непосредственно для интерпретации геофизических данных о строении нижней мантии Земли, так и для объяснения многих экспериментально наблюдаемых эффектов в ферропериклазе при высоком давлении и комнатной температуре.

На защиту выносятся следующие положения:

1. Предложена экспериментальная методика мёссбауэровской спектроскопии с использованием камер с алмазными наковальнями, позволяющая изучать вещество при высоком давлении и температуре.

2. В ферропериклазе даже при низком содержании железа (20 молярных %) при высоком давлении и комнатной температуре возникает тригональное искажение решетки.

3. Анализ мёссбауэровских спектров ферропериклаза позволяет установить некоторые характеристики локальной структуры твердого раствора, определить степень ближнего порядка.

4. Степень ближнего порядка в ферропериклазе увеличивается с давлением так, что образуются кластеры ионов железа. Процесс кластеризации может привести к распаду твердого раствора при определенных Р,Т условиях.

5. Переход железа в ферропериклазе из высоко- в низкоспиновое состояние происходит при высоком давлении. Параметры перехода (давление перехода, его ширина и температурная зависимость) зависят от состава твердого раствора, и полученные экспериментально тенденции могут быть объяснены с точки зрения характера ближнего порядка (локальной структуры) твердого раствора.

6. Изменение спинового состояния железа в ферропериклазе происходит постепенно, и, соответственно, постепенно изменяются физические параметры, связанные с этим переходом.

7. Радиационная теплопроводность ферропериклаза изменяется относительно слабо при спиновом переходе для температур, соответствующих условиям нижней мантии.

Заключение

В представленной работе приведены результаты комплексного исследования ферропериклаза (М&Ре)0, одного из важнейших для наук о Земле материалов. Выявлены многие особенности поведения этого твердого раствора при повышенных Р, Г-условиях, приближенных к условиям нижней мантии Земли.

В качестве основных итогов работы можно перечислить следующие результаты:

1. Разработана экспериментальная методика мёссбауэровской спектроскопии при высоком давлении (до 100 ГПа и выше) и температуре (до 1000 К);

2. Из мёссбауэровских спектров ферропериклаза установлена степень ближнего порядка в твердом растворе, которая увеличивается с давлением. Процесс кластеризации железа, возможно, приводит к распаду твердого раствора при некоторых Р,Т условиях;

3. Показано существование тригональной дисторсии в ферропериклазе (М£0.8Ре0.2)0 при высоком давлении и комнатной температуре;

4. Спиновый переход ионов железа происходит при высоком давлении, и параметры этого перехода, температурная и композиционная зависимость объяснены с точки зрения локальной структуры твердого раствора;

5. Спиновый переход не является фазовым превращением и происходит постепенно, с постепенным же изменением физических свойств;

6.- Радиационная теплопроводность ферропериклаза уменьшается слабо (около 15%) при переходе из высоко- в низкоспиновое состояние.

Не следует, однако, считать, что поведение этого материала в условиях земной мантии окончательно выяснено. Остаются неясными многие особенности и физические свойства (М§,Ре)0 в нижней мантии. Неизвестно достоверно, происходит ли распад этого твердого раствора и какие последствия это может иметь для глобальной геохимии, распределения железа между мантией и ядром Земли, мантийной конвекции. Неизвестна точная кривая сжимаемости ферропериклаза при температурах, близких к мантийным (2000 - 2500 °С). Многие из физических свойств (электропроводность, механические характеристики) также не определены.

Основным ограничением данной работы является недостаточно высокая температура измерений, и будущее конструирование установки для проведения мёссбауэровских измерений в камере с алмазными наковальнями с использованием одновременного лазерного нагрева гипотетически позволит получить Р, Т-условия, отвечающие нижней мантии Земли.
